Saturday, September 10th: ANGELS CAMP, CA. “ArtsTeach: Professional Development for K-6 Teachers,” Mark Twain Elementary School, 8:30AM to 4:30PM. $40, includes all materials and lunch.
What a thrill when Penny West called! Penny is the recently retired E.D. of Calaveras County Arts Council, who is now refueling their ArtsTeach program, and she is a life-force! She asked me to be one of the instructors for a full day of playful learning…for grown-ups! And I said, “You bet!” Along with storytelling sessions, teachers will get a chance to work with visual artists, dance professionals, and theatre specialists: A great line-up of instructors! Visual Arts–Marchand Heimann, Bruce Peccianti, Bunny Hale and Mari-Samuels-Arseneault; Dance–Betsy Claasen; Theatre–Sherie Marsh and Storytelling–Yours Truly (yippee!).
If you are a teacher, or an after-school specialist, you will enjoy this event. Hosted by one of the region’s most reputable arts organizations and funded through some “meaty” grant-funding (congrats, CCAC), this day is stacked up to have rich experiences for teachers. All of this intends to give teachers good juice to share with their students, juice that is rich in “Vitamin Standards-Based.”
So, make a promise to yourself! Start the school year with inspiration AND fun!
To register contact Calaveras County Arts Council or (209)754-1774. Grant funded program to strengthen teachers’ understanding of arts education and its integration into academic core subjects. All standards-based. Everything is designed to help teachers learn, enjoy and become more comfortable with the arts! Theatre, Dance, Visual Art & Storytelling will be given attention at this learning retreat.
