In 1976 I met Malvina Reynolds at a dinner party. I knew she was an American Folksong Hero, but I didn’t know that our chance encounter would change my life.
I was 26. She was 76. She asked what I wanted to do in life. “I’d love to just tell stories, but I don’t know if I could make a living doing that.” She looked at me and said, “You can if you begin.” Then she told me about her daughter, Nancy Schimmel.
Over the next three years I poured over every word of Nancy’s book Just Enough To Make A Story, now in its third edition. And I began. Finally I met Nancy in 1981. To this day I consider these two women as the ones who pushed me through The Storytellers’ Window…
Now more thanks to Nancy for allowing me publish her song and LATER an MP4 of it. You want to know more about why bees are so important? Read on and SING!!
