BZ grew up in an artistic family. She was “lucky” to take piano and voice lessons. Both she and her brother did musical theatre as teens.
Around 1980 BZ met Peg Leg. Little did they know that many years later they’d end up playing music together, having a grand time.
California’s Ukulele Empress, Peggy Reza, picked up a guitar when she was about 5 years old, and she’s been playing ever since! She’s a skillful arranger, teacher and performer. And she is also a playful risk-taker. About 15 years ago she picked up the uke, and has been going strong ever since! Her bands, The Blues Band and the Blues Shoes Auxiliary Ukulele Orchestra of Columbia, are both wildly popular in the central Sierra. So, when the two decided to put their heads together, we all found ourselves in a magical world of improvisation, inquiry and innovation!
